About Political Science Course

The degree course of the Political Science specialty is provided at the first (Bachelor of Arts in Political Science) and Second (Master of Arts in Political Science) levels of higher education. The Degree in Political Science at the International European University, Ukraine – Malta Campus has its focus on the theoretical and methodological aspects of the study of politics. It introduces students to the systematic analysis of political structures, institutions, issues, and events.

The Educational Process

• To use library search tools to identify scholarly articles on country-specific government institutions in a nation-state;
• To use the Internet and library search tools to find sites on government, international humanitarian organizations, and newspapers originating from their topic country;
• To write an analysis of the institutions, political behavior, and political ideas of another country;
• To identify the names and geographic locations of most contemporary states;
• To demonstrate an understanding of the key historical events which shaped the international system in the 20th century, the basic structures of the contemporary international system, and the key actors, institutions, and their functions;
• To describe the role of individual and cultural values and perceptions and the importance of empirical evidence in analyzing international problems;
• To discuss the main international relations theories and the values implicit in each of these different ways of looking at the world, thus giving them the tools necessary to understand the day-to-day events reported in the media;
