About the Performing Arts Course

The degree course of the Performing Arts specialty is provided at the first (Bachelor of Arts in Performing Arts) and Second (Master of Arts in Performing Arts) levels of higher education. Performing Arts Degrees of International European University are practice-based (involving a great deal of actual performance) and academic, which combines practical work with analysis of the background of the subject. The Educational Process

The Performing Arts Course at IEU, Ukraine – Malta Campus is a comprehensive program that equips students with the skills and knowledge needed to pursue a career in the arts, performance, cinema, or music. The program covers a wide range of topics, from the conservation, digitalization, restoration, production, and post-production of audio-visual materials to language and IT courses that prepare students for the demands of the modern workplace. European School of Humanities in Malta provides students with a thorough education in the history and practice of theater. The curriculum includes courses on role-playing, world theatre history, play analysis, stage practice, voice and speech, improvisation, basic acting, dance, and dramaturgy. The European School of Humanities is designed to give students a strong foundation in the humanities, while also providing practical training in the performing arts. Graduates of the program are well-prepared to pursue a variety of careers in the arts, including acting, directing, stage management, and production.

After graduating students are able:

  • To develop a functional knowledge of the language and grammar of music;
  • To develop an understanding of the common elements of music (rhythm, melody, harmony, timbre, texture, and form) in their interaction through both visual and aural analysis;
  • To develop fluency in sight reading including the ability to hear, identify, conduct, and relate simple (diatonic), chromatic, and model musical materials;
  • To develop an understanding of musical form, process, and structures of composition;
  • To acquire a general knowledge of the major style, genres, forms, and composers from the Middle Ages to the present;
  • To develop the ability to place compositions and stylistic perspectives as well as to discuss works in the social context from when they were created;
  • To apply basic knowledge of music performance practices and stylistic traits within the context of their instrument;
  • To contribute artistically as a participant in departmental productions;
  • To evaluate the multi-faceted nature of the production process;
  • To demonstrate comprehension of the variety of artistry and skills that contribute to a finished theatrical production;
  • To analyze and critique the social significance and cultural resonances of theatrical endeavor as reflected in theatre history and dramatic literature;
  • To illustrate preparation for further professional/academic training through theatre production and scholarship;
  • To exhibit aesthetic awareness related to performing arts production;
  • To demonstrate the ability to work on productions in different media and technologies individually and as part of a creative team;
  • To develop critical thinking competencies about the performing arts and express them in writing;
  • To demonstrate familiarity with key concepts and historical contexts related to the performing arts field;
  • To apply technology in creative and communicative ways;
  • To demonstrate the ability to compromise, ask appropriate questions, and take direction non-defensively;
  • To apply the values of collaboration, be able to empathize and give supportive feedback, and gain tolerance for diversity;
  • To express oneself through an art form (e.g. design, perform, direct), and demonstrate skill in problem-solving;

  • To demonstrate competency in an oral language in speech presentations, forensics competitions, acting, directing, and stage management;
