Educational Process

The IEU, Malta Campus Materials Science and Engineering degree course presents some of the most common issues encountered in Materials Science research and technology. The teaching methodologies used in the studying program include face-to-face lectures, laboratory practicals, small group teaching (problem-based learning and tutorials), workshops, computer-aided design (CAD), seminars, presentations, industrial visits, video reviews, internships, guided reading and portfolio as well as original and independent research work. During classes, students gain an understanding of the state of the art in materials science research areas and engineering. The most prominent European engineers give students an insight into current limitations and prospects of technological applications in engineering and the ability to apply the knowledge gained from the course lectures in short literature research and PowerPoint presentations.

In addition to coursework, the MSE program at the International European University, Malta Campus includes laboratory work, research projects, and internships. It allows students to gain hands-on experience in materials characterization, processing, and testing. Students learn how to use state-of-the-art equipment and software for material analysis and design. One of the key aspects of MSE is the development of new materials. It involves the creation of materials with specific properties, such as high strength, toughness, or electrical conductivity, or the development of new materials that are better suited to a particular application. Another important aspect of MSE is the study of materials failure. By understanding how and why materials fail, engineers can design materials that are more resistant to failure, or develop methods for detecting and mitigating failures when they occur.

After graduating students are able:
