About the Cyber Security Course

The degree course of the Cyber Security specialty is provided at the first (Bachelor of Cyber Security) and Second (Master of Cyber Security) levels of higher education.  The Cyber Security degree program at the IEU, Ukraine – Malta Campus gives study abroad and exchange students a comprehensive understanding of Information Technology Management and Security Processes. The Educational Process

Students pursuing the Cyber Security Degree at the IEU, Ukraine – Malta Campus learn the theory, principles, practices, and technologies of Cyber Security and gain knowledge and understanding of the principles underpinning effective approaches to Cyber Defense. The course addresses issues such as identity, confidence, reputation, network security, cryptography, intrusion detection, and the development of high-assurance systems. The Cyber Security curriculum at the International European University, Ukraine – Malta Campus includes using a combination of lectures, seminars, problem classes, and practical classes, with coursework and exams used for assessment. The IEU, Ukraine – Malta Campus students undertake individual research projects under the supervision of a member of staff. Software Laboratories and Hardware Laboratories are equipped with dedicated modern technical equipment required for practical classes. All laboratories are equipped with high-performance computers, custom hardware, and various industrial machinery. Our European curriculum is taught by expert faculty with real-world experience ensuring IEU, Ukraine – Malta Campus students gain the competencies needed in the field of Cyber Security. During the Cyber Security course, students attend the lectures of famous specialists on topics such as Forensics in Cybersecurity, Data Protection, Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Arms watch, and Cloud Computing. • Manage and monitor enterprise antivirus and software firewall programs;
• Implement a manage endpoint encryption solution utilizing TrendMicro MobileArmor to secure university workstations against sensitive data loss;
• Scan network infrastructure for insecurities and vulnerabilities using programs such as ACAS and HBSS;
• Work on implementing DISA STIGS;
• Assist in using Nessus to scan local machines;
• Upload the audit files to ACAS in preparation for STIG scans;
• Document, support, and coordinate vendor support for SIEM software BlackStratus;
• Install, maintain, and upgrade defensive tools including FireEye, NetWitness, Splunk, and McAfee NSM;
• Conduct site security inspections of transmission substations and power generation facilities using NERC CIP & NIST 800-53 standards;
• Lead the documentation initiative by assigning and documenting the SIEM application BlackStratus as part of an implementation and support team;
• Coordinate and perform compliance audits following the information protection, data asset, and threat provisions under DISA and USCYBERCOM;
• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot security systems for military weapons;
• Gather and collate security and business data to synthesize ISO security reports;
• Create documentation and training to effectively troubleshoot proxies and resolve customer issues;
• Perform network and systems monitoring and analysis, incident management/remediation, and forensics activities;
• Perform ongoing internal security and privacy assessments based on ISO and industry standards;
• Perform daily monitoring analysis and create security incident reports for sensitive DLP-related events;
• Configure automated management framework to execute complex and brittle scripting, for cloud-scale operations against the database and web servers;
• Create PKI documentation relate to certificate installation, troubleshooting, and resolutions.
